It has been well maintained and properly lubricated at all times. The doors slide normally and ladders brake components are all excellent. The box has both end flaps and 1 torn inner flap. I have not tested the couplets however they are all in good shape.
There is no box for the tender. It does have a torn inner flap. The caboose box is solid with both end flaps and all inner intact. The train itself consists of a die cast 229 2-4-2 engine in outstanding condition both running and cosmetically.
Labels on the box are crisp and clear. I replaced the brittle wiring on tender several years ago with silicone wire. The 2654 Oil Tank Car is in beautiful condition with bright paint, no scratches or dents, solid handrails and 100% intact Shell decals. I have run this train for the last decade at Christmas every year.
I am happy to answer any questions regarding this set. The original instruction manual is included in great condition. There is very slight chipping to one end of the black frame. The engine box is in just fair condition with extensive taping on the ends and several inner flaps missing.
There is slight chipping of the black paint on frame at rear. The 2689W tinplate tender is in excellent condition both cosmetically and operationally. Included is an RCS track set box containing a dual button controller that desperately needs rewiring. The set box is in excellent condition for its age with solid corners and bottom.
