I have stored it in a smoke free, pet free environment since had owned about 25 years. I would believe that it need to be oiled and serviced before being ran since the old oil grease have probably dried up from inactivity.

Look at all the photos, both engine and box appear in very good condition, needs a bulb. We just don't have the space needed to display everything and I see reason keep things packed in boxes where can't enjoy them. Sale is for a Lionel postwar locomotive in original box with insert. I have only collected trains and never ran them.
